FrogLock is a small browser extension that helps you keep your browsing private. When blur mode is enabled, it will automatically blur the content of your selected urls. Perfect for when you have to share your screen, are in a public place or in the office.
I Myself have to share my screen almost on a daily basis, and I often have to prepare for screensharing by making sure I have hidden all the tabs that I do not want to show. I for example always have to run Whatsapp on the browser, which is useful for easy communication, but I for sure do not want to show my private messages to everyone. Even though I always clean up my tabs before screensharing, I still do not want to make a mistake, so I created FrogLock to avoid this problem. The idea was to create your own lists of urls that you want to blur, so that you are in control. This might come with a bit more configuration, but it is worth it. The extension will be improved over time, and there will be more features added, for example: - Customization of the blur effect, logo and text that is shown when a page is blurred. - A warning prior to screensharing, so that you can quickly enable blur mode, without accidentally sharing sensitive information. - Community driven lists, so that you can get started quickly with less configuration. - A way to report urls that are not blurred, so that we can improve the extension together. The app is in an early stage and is being actively developed, so please report any bugs and use with caution. Always double check your tabs before screensharing, stay safe and happy browsing!
At the moment FrogLock is only available for Google Chrome, but it is planned to be available for Firefox in the future as well. We are currently using the Chrome browser so that we can easily develop and test the extension, while gathering feedback. After the 1.0 release we will start working on deploying it to Firefox and other browsers as well. If you use a browser that needs this extension, please let us know, so that we can understand the demand for it.
FrogLock is developed actively by Pim Doornekamp, the founder of Fishing Frog Studio, and by Sander Berkhout who is a fantastic developer and a great partner for this project. A special thanks to Sander for supporting this project. Be sure to check out his LinkedIn profile here.
